Anna E. Scamman

1928-2010 — She was always willing to help in anyway she could

PORTLAND — Anna E. Scamman, 81, of Farmington died on May, 24, 2010 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Anna was born in Phillips on Nov. 26, 1928 the daughter of Henry and Dorothy (Norton) Scamman. Anna was a graduate of Strong High School and The Shepard-Gill School of Practical Nursing in Boston. She worked as a nurse for Park Marion Nursing Center in Brookline, Mass. for 16 years and then moved back to Maine to be closer to family and continue her career in nursing at the Strong Children’s Nursing Home. In her retirement years, Anna continued to use her nursing skills to care for family members and friends, always willing to help in anyway she could.

Her hobbies were puzzles, travel and spending time with her family. Anna loved to travel and to share pictures and stories of her vacations that took her around the world; she also took several family members including nieces and nephews on trips.

She is survived by her sister, Miriam Fenn of North Anson; brothers, Warren Scamman of Windsor, Mass., Allan Scamman of Strong and Lewis Scamman of

Olympia, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.

Anna was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Louise Stacy; and her brother, John Scamman.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. June 25, 2010 at the Village Cemetery in Strong.

At Anna’s request there will be no funeral or

visitation hours. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service in Skowhegan.
