Thank You from American Legion Kingfield Post 61

On behalf of Post 61 I would like to thank those in attendance at our Memorial Day Service held at the monuments on May 31.

We were especially proud of Kia Brown, Forest Collins and Emmaline Twitchell for reading their very well written essays regarding the meaning of the American Flag.

Meldon Gilmore reminded those gathered of what it has taken to be a free nation in reading a poem titled “Freedom is Not for Free.” Reverend Tom Dubois gave us spiritual guidance, and once again Thomas Faraday brought a tear to our eye by playing Taps on his trumpet.

These contributions all added special meaning to the ceremony as we honor the memories of those who gave their lives in the service of our country.

We also send a special thank you to Wayne Hooper and his family for the day’s work they donated dressing up the grounds so that it was ready for inspection!
Brian Hatfield, BMCS USCG Retired
Commander, Post 61 Kingfield
