WMCA celebrates 45 years of service

WILTON — Western Maine Community Action is getting ready for a celebration on June 24. In conjunction with an art show titled “The Art of Community Action,” the agency will celebrate 45 years of service to the communities of Franklin, Oxford and Androscoggin counties. Twenty three artists from these counties will exhibit at WMCA’s Administration Office through October.

Students from the Livermore Falls High School Life Skills Class volunteered their time to refresh the gardens in front of the administration building in preparation for the event. “Working in the community teaches responsibility and gives students work experience,” said Diane Maurais, classroom teacher.

“The kids love working. One student has already secured a summer job from skills he has honed through work experience,” Maurais noted.

The show, “The Art of Community Action,” will open on June 24 at 5 p.m. and be on display through October.

“We are looking forward to the exhibit and celebrating 45 years of service with friends and colleagues,” said Fen Fowler, Executive Director.
