Thanks for helping me remain in my apartment
I would like to publicly thank all the people who have had a hand in making it possible for me to stay another year in this apartment at Valley Brook in Strong.
Here’s a few who helped in some way: Elder Independence of Maine, Care and Comfort, Legal Services for the Elderly, my doctors at Strong clinic, and everyone else who was looking out for me.
Next and by no means last, were those who did the physical work —mostly volunteers— for this lowincome, 80-year-old widow. My heartfelt thanks to you which no amount of money could buy. Thanks to my church family, too. I thank God for all of you.
They know who they are, and mostly what they did was “like unto the Lord” (Christian good deeds unto others).
God knows I needed downsizing, but hadn’t a lot of money to hire help. My C&C caretakers had (and still do) only enough time to keep me and my apartment clean (and clothes, etc.).
From the last of January on —when I fell and sprained my right side— I was in constant pain, so not being able to stand sit or sleep, I wasn’t able to do much for myself. Before I was out of pain, the management gave me an inspection near Easter and gave only two weeks before the next inspection. That’s when my organizer (and her husband, too) stepped in and did the bulk of the downsizing. That was after Easter and even though I still had bouts of pain, I started physical therapy.
We now go month to month on inspections. The last one —I hope— is this Friday. It’s only been a week or so that I’ve been able to pack away all my (warm) winter clothes and have them put into storage.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch… I’ve been laid low with a cold virus for three weeks —another period of a lot of sleepless nights. Not being able to travel (drive), I received my recertification papers but couldn’t get to the banks to get the figures. Finally got the last bank data but now I can’t find the rest to finish the signup…
Anyway; thank you everyone for helping me. God is good; and he has a lot of good people helping him also.
Sincerely yours,
Marylyn B. R. Bachelder
