Wayne Allen Fletcher
WILTON — Wayne Allan Fletcher, 28, of New Vineyard, died unexpectedly in a motorcycle accident Saturday, June 12, 2010.
He was born on March 10, 1982, in Farmington, the son of Douglas and Lauralee (Tracy) Fletcher. He attended a local Christian school and was self-employed as a subcontractor doing carpentry work. He had recently returned to Maine to continue his pursuit of becoming a trooper with the Maine State Police after spending several months working with his sister in Hawaii.
Wayne was a true outdoorsman. He loved all it had to offer; from hunting, fishing and trapping to just simply being there. As accomplished as he was in the woods and streams of Maine, he was equally as good a teacher about the things he loved in the outdoors, exhibiting infinite patience when teaching a willing recruit the intricacies of any particular sport.
He will be sadly missed by his parents, Douglas and Lauralee Fletcher of New Vineyard; siblings, Nick Fletcher and his wife, Hannah, of New Vineyard, Dawn Schanz and her husband, Anthony, of New Vineyard, Candida Fletcher of New Vineyard, and Melissa Fletcher and her special friend, Jupiter Crosson of Volcano, Hawaii; maternal grandfather, Allan W. Tracy and his wife, Judith, of Farmington; paternal grandparents, Wayne G. and Faris Fletcher of New Vineyard; aunts and uncles, Larry Tracy and his wife, Debbie, of Strong, Brian Tracy and his wife, Debbie, of New Sharon, Rodney Tracy and his wife, Janet, of New Vineyard, Russell Tracy and his wife, Pamela, of Canton, Debra Robbins of Farmington, Gerald Fletcher of New Vineyard, Bryan Fletcher and his wife, Francine, of New Vineyard, Danny Fletcher of New Vineyard, and Jody Fletcher and his wife, Cindy, of New Vineyard; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and his very close friends, David, Sarah, and Hannah Neal of New Vineyard.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Julia Ann Seamon Tracy; uncles, Robert E. “Buster” Tracy and Andrew Robbins; an aunt, Sandra Fletcher.
The family wishes to offer their heartfelt appreciation to Maine State Trooper Matthew Casavant, who graciously spent some time mentoring Wayne, and then went out of his way to assist them after his death.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 18, 2010, at the Wiles Funeral Home, Cremation Service & Remembrance Center in Farmington, with the Rev. Herman Ellis officiating. Interment followed at the New Vineyard Cemetery in New Vineyard.
Gifts may be given in Wayne’s memory to the Ronald McDonald House, 250 Brackett St., Portland, Maine
