Summer reading program begins

Carrabassett Valley Public Library

CARRABASSETT VALLEY — The Carrabassett Valley Public Library’s Summer Reading Program will begin July 9, with a celebration and kick-off/splash-off party at noon at the Carrabassett Valley Town Park.

Everyone who signs up at the park on the 9th or at the library anytime receives a reading log, balloon, bookmark and pencil. This year’s national theme is “Make a Splash @ your Library!”

After story time, tossing a few water balloons and enjoying other water-play activities, attendees will make a splash in the pool. The program will conclude with a free matinee movie at the library at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, with a presentation of “Finding Nemo” on the big screen in the Begin Room of the CV Library and Community Center —includes popcorn and a drink.

An Outdoor Adventure Camp field trip to the CV library will be held on Wednesday, July 14 and additional program story times and crafts will be held for the general public from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, July 14, 21 and 28 and Aug. 4 (movie day and end of program) there will be prizes for everyone who reads, “Just remember to log your books!” said Library Director Andie DeBiase.
