Andy Kahn returns to Rangeley
RANGELEY — Pianist Andy Kahn of Philadelphia - —who performed at Evenings of Music from 2004 to 2006 and in 2009—- returns for a solo performance at this year’s Evening of Music Wednesday July 14 at 7 p.m. at the Wilhelm Reich Museum’s Conference Center, Dodge Pond Road.
Kahn’s repertoire features tunes from the songbooks of Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, George Gershwin and Richard Rodgers & Lorenzo Hart. Since Be-Bop and Classic Jazz are both based upon American Standard songs written by these and other master composers, Kahn will also play some of his favorite jazz selections, lending his own improvisations. Sharing anecdotes and special elements about these songs lends a personal touch as he guides his audience through America’s unique contribution to the arts: “Jazz and the Standard Song.”
Contribution: $10 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Refreshments will be served. Tickets are available at the Museum office and bookstore and the Rangeley Chamber of Commerce.
