‘Fishing with Finnegan’ to play North New Portland
“Fishing with Finnegan” will open new series at the North New Portland Community Church.
New England Celtic Arts will host “Fishing with Finnegan” at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center on Sunday, July 11 and at the North New Portland Community Church on Monday, July 12. Curtain at both venues is 7 p.m. This will be the first of two concerts shared by the two venues this season. Pre-show jam sessions are planned at both locations starting at 6:15; audience members are encouraged to bring instruments and jam for a few minutes before the show.
With the completion and renovation of the bell tower at the North New Portland Community Church, pastor Scott Planting and committee decided to open the church up to a variety of community events. “Fishing With Finnegan” will open the series on Monday, July 12 followed by “The Press Gang” on Monday, Aug. 9.
Fishing With Finnegan is not in fact a random collective but rather a whole family of musicians. The four Ryan siblings, born and raised in decidedly Irish Northern Rhode Island, have always been inclined towards the arts in general and music in particular. Being home schooled, they found their closest friends in one another, and continue to be a tight-knit family. One very important result of all this bonding is that when each inevitably picked up an instrument there were always a number of co-musicians with whom to experiment.
They are well known for their infectious enthusiasm and spirited stage show. Fishing with Finnegan is very much family friendly and a fitting performance with which to start this new series.
Skye Theater is located 3 miles west of East Dixfield village at 2 Highland Drive off Winter Hill Road and U.S. Route 2 in South Carthage. The North New Portland Community Church is at 14 Hancock Pond Road in North New Portland.
Ticket price at Skye Theatre is $10. Tickets at NNPCC are $5 each or $15 for the family.
