Colin Grant Band brings Celtic Fusion to Maine
New England Celtic Arts presents Canada’s hottest new Celtic fusion group, “The Colin Grant Band” at the Franco American Heritage Center in Lewiston Tuesday, July 13; at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center in So Carthage Wednesday, July 14; and at Unity College Center for the Performing Arts in Unity Thursday, July 15. Curtain is at 7 p.m. at the Franco Center and Skye Theatre and at 7:30 at UCCPA. Pre-show jam sessions begin 45 minutes prior to curtain at each venue.
Lingering somewhere amidst the rich, soulful roots of traditional Cape Breton music and the grooves of a thousand branches of rock and funk, Colin Grant embarks on his latest project: a dynamic and thoughtful mingling of beats and melodies from an extensive host of musical influences. Far from the awkward malaise of mohawked bag-pipers and kilted punks, the Colin Grant Band has created a kind of Celtic fusion that is as much Steely Dan and Yes, as it is Ashley MacIsaac.
The Franco American Heritage Center is located on 46 Cedar Street in Lewiston. Skye Theater is located 3 miles west of East Dixfield village at 2 Highland Drive off Winter Hill Road and U.S. Route 2 in South Carthage. UCCPA is at 42 Depot Street in Unity.
For reservations at the theater you wish to attend call: FAHC at 689-2000, Skye Theatre at 562-4445, or UCCPA at 948-7469. Tickets are $12 at FAHC and $10 at Skye and Unity. More information is available at www.necelticarts.com.
