Kate Braestrup to lead service

Reeds Mill Church

MADRID -– Author and Maine State Warden Service Chaplain, the Reverend Kate Braestrup, will the lead the worship service at Reeds Mill Church Sunday, Aug 1 at 2 p.m.

In her role as Chaplain, Braestrup, who was ordained in 2004, assists wardens as they search for those who have lost their way in the wild lands and fresh waters of Maine. She also offers comfort to those who wait for lost ones to be found.

Ben Witherill, Deacon at Church if the Good Shepherd in Rangeley, was able to spend time with Kate as he studied to become a deacon. “I was blessed to meet her (Kate) through my association with the Maine Wardens and as part of my ordination process,” says Witherill. “She graciously helped me to further understand my own calling to law enforcement chaplaincy. Kate’s humility, sense of humor, and compassion are what make her a gifted chaplain, and her experiences with the Warden’s Service give her unique insight into the law enforcement community here in Maine.”

Reverend Braestrup is also known for her books “Marriage and Other Acts of Charity” and “Here If You Need Me,” both on the New York Times Best Seller List. She recently contributed an article to the current issue of Guideposts Magazine.
