RANGELEY –- Pine Tree Frosty owner Alison Fraser Ayotte is hosting a 5K race Aug. 7 called Under The Tree. The event is dedicated in her father’s memory, John W. Fraser. The day will feature a 3.5 mile race and a one mile fun/run walk.
“This was a cause very close to my dad’s heart. He lost his battle with brain cancer last January,” Fraser explained.
All proceeds will be donated to the Maine Children’s Cancer Program and used to grant holiday wishes and gifts to children with life threatening cancer.
“Even when he was terminally ill himself, he always loaded up the truck with gifts at Christmas time to donate to underprivileged children. It was his belief that on Christmas morning every child deserves to have something ‘under the tree.’”
It’s this giving quality which inspired the idea to form the event and name it Under The Tree.
Registration will occur at the Rangeley Town Park from 8 to 9 a.m. The one mile walk for kids and adults will start at 9 a.m. followed by the 3.5 mile race at 9:30.
