TransCanada’s expansion endorsed
Franklin County Chamber of Commerce
      FARMINGTON — The expansion of the Kibby Wind Power Project has earned the support of the Board of Directors of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce. Expanding the project onto nearby Sisk Mountain will help maintain hundreds of construction jobs and provide enough electricity for 17,000 homes, a spokesperson for the chamber said.

FAA directed to hold public hearing on Condor flights
      WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Susan Collins, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, recently announced that she has successfully included language in the Fiscal Year 2011 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations bill that directs the Federal Aviation Administration to hold a public hearing in Western Maine regarding proposed Air National Guard training flights.

      PHILLIPS — The Toothaker Pond Association recently announced that it has a new Web site, and it is up and running: www.toothakerpond.com. The Web site has been a coordinated effort by TPA members Adrienne Rollo, Nancy O’Toole and computer engineer Sam Haas of Utah. All donated their time to make it a reality.

      NORTH ANSON — The staff at Stewart Public Library is offering faster check-in and check-out service to the public. In order to accomplish that however, residents and students need to come into the library and get new patron cards with barcodes. Effective Aug. 1 the old cards will no longer be honored.
