NORTH ANSON — The staff at Stewart Public Library is offering faster check-in and check-out service to the public. In order to accomplish that however, residents and students need to come into the library and get new patron cards with barcodes.

Effective Aug. 1 the old cards will no longer be honored.

Adult patrons need to provide photo identification and one proof of residency. If the photo ID states a post office box, they need to provide one proof of residency such as a tax bill, household insurance policy, electric bill, etc.

Children aged 5 and older are eligible for a library card. Every student in MSAD #74 is also eligible for a card. Each child initially must show a current student ID card or a birth certificate, and be accompanied by the parent or guardian who has the photo ID and residency proof.

Every resident of Anson, North Anson and Embden is eligible for a patron card for $.10. The seasonal and nonresident rate is a one-time $5 fee.
