Toothaker Pond Association

PHILLIPS — The Toothaker Pond Association recently announced that it has a new Web site, and it is up and running: www.toothakerpond.com.

The Web site has been a coordinated effort by TPA members Adrienne Rollo, Nancy O’Toole and computer engineer Sam Haas of Utah. All donated their time to make it a reality.

The site is filled with historical information on the pond as well as the Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes Narrow Gauge Railroad. Many railroad photos are displayed thanks to the Phillips Historical Society’s assistance in this area.

Visitors will be able to view lake restoration information with links to databases at the University of Maine and the Maine Dept. of Environmental Protection.

“We are very proud of the progress we have made on water quality restoration to date,” said a spokesperson for the TPA.

Two draw-downs of the pond have reduced phosphorus levels and algae blooms are becoming less frequent. According to the spokesperson, this summer’s water quality is excellent and swimming is very enjoyable.

The TPA is dedicated to restoring the water quality to an acceptable recreational level. The association is also addressing erosion control measures at the pond’s beach area.

The Web site also has membership information as well as TPA newsletters and events.
