Jay mill helps local veterans
Employees from Verso Paper Corp.’s Androscoggin Mill in Jay help the Livermore Falls, Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post 3335 raise its refurbished flagpole in a re-dedication ceremony, Aug. 20. Several weeks ago the mill donated its boom truck to help the VFW take down the flagpole. The wind and weather had taken its toll on the eight-year-old flagpole, ruining cables and causing the VFW to lose a couple of flags recently. The pole got a new paint job and was rigged with new cables and flags. After Verso helped raise the refurbished pole, Post Commander, John Judd, said a few words, followed by a presentation of flags by the Color Guard. Incidentally, the mill had helped raise the original pole back in 2002 when it was brand new. (Verso Papers photo)
