LIVERMORE — The public is invited to partake in homemade pie and listen to the music of three Maine performers on the lawn of the historic Washburn- Norlands Living History Center Saturday, Sept. 18, from 1 to 4 p.m. against a backdrop of 445 acres of rolling fields and woodland.
Proceeds from the afternoon concert by Bonnie Graves Wilder, Conni St. Pierre and Phil Poirier will benefit the fund to reconstruct the Norlands barn, lost to a fire in 2008. Staff urges the public to check out the progress that’s been made on restoration of the kitchen and farmers’ cottage.
Wilder, a Music and History Community Educator, will open the show with a special Norlands Americana Singalong, with songs from the 1870s and earlier.
St. Pierre is founder of smasheasy and Tourmaline Media, and is an internationally acclaimed ambient/new age recording artist.
Poirier’s all-original music has been described as “contemporary folk with a touch of the blues thrown in” and “Alt music; thoughtful, strong lyrics with a great melodic sensibility.”
It is only $5 for admission. Homemade pie will be served up by the slice for a small donation. The concert will be held rain or shine. In case of cold or damp weather, the event will move into the old Meeting House on the museum grounds.
The center is located at 290 Norlands Road. For more information, visit www.norlands.org or call 897-4366.
