Fall Broadway revue auditions slated

FARMINGTON — The Sandy River Players community theater in Farmington will be holding open auditions Sept. 16, 17 and 18 for its fall production, “Broadway on the Sandy.” The show, to be performed in Nordica Auditorium Nov. 19 to 21, will comprise a series of individual acts by local performers, potentially to include some of the most popular numbers from past Sandy River Players productions.

Local performers of all ages are encouraged to audition. Performers should prepare the Broadway number of their choice, and may either bring their own accompanist or provide piano sheet music of sufficient quality for the performance.

Acts will be selected based on quality standards and on the degree of competition that turns out.

“We’re excited to extend this opportunity to the community once again, having done a very popular Broadway Revival fundraiser a few years ago,” said Jayne Decker, President of the Sandy River Players. “It is a great opportunity for our many talented community members to showcase their favorite pieces and obtain a ‘part’ in a production without the constraints and demands of a full musical show.”

Auditions will be held Thursday, Sept. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. to noon.

All auditions will be in Nordica Auditorium on the UMF campus. The Thursday auditions will be held in Room 220 of Merrill Hall, while the Friday and Saturday auditions will be in Nordica Auditorium in Merrill Hall.

Questions about the auditions may be directed to Karen West at 778-0435 or Cyndy Stancioff at 778- 3513.
