Last Wednesday afternoon, a Canadian trucker traveling northbound on Route 27 north of the Anson Valley Road in New Vineyard drifted onto the soft shoulder and flipped his full load of baled fiber material. Franklin County Sheriff’s Department investigator Matt Brann responded to the scene at 4 p.m. The four-hour incident delayed traffic and limited it to one-lane travel. Brann said the driver received minor lacerations. It was reported that when the towing recovery truck was trying to pull the big rig upright, the integrity of the compartment gave way and released the bales into this swampy grassland area.
