RANGELEY — Rangeley was selected as one of The Top 25 Towns for Foliage by the September/October 2010 print edition of Yankee Magazine.

“It is an honor to receive this recognition. The Rangeley Lakes Region is a great place year-round, and autumn here is especially beautiful,” said Rebecca Schinas, executive director of the Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce.

“We invite everyone to enjoy the Rangeley Lake Region’s fantastic lakes and mountains, accommodations, restaurants and attractions. This area is a unique, wild and beautiful destination that we hope visitors return to experience in each of the four seasons.”

The Yankee Magazine article notes that “the must-stop viewpoint in the area is at a small turnout on Route 17, aptly named Height of Land, from which a panorama of five lakes and mountains stretches in all directions.” This turnout is on the National Scenic Byway of Routes 4 and 17, which passes through the Rangeley Lakes Region.

The town of Rangeley was also recently named one of America’s Best Summer Lake Towns of 2010 by the online edition of Frommer’s Budget Travel magazine in July 2010.
