Cloutiers, Curran and Page win scramble

(Winona Davenport photo) FARMINGTON FALLS — Milder, dryer air fell over the 13th annual Phillips 9-Hole Golf Scramble at Sandy River Golf Course Sunday, Aug. 22.

Fifteen teams competed for the first five finishes. Ties were broken by a one-hole playoff with seven teams competing —and again, with a chip-off.

The winning teams were:

First Place — team 4A: Marc & Tina Cloutier, Jim Curran and Roger Page.

Second Place — team 7A: Scott Bishop, Mike Waugh and Dean Frost.

Third Place — team 1A: Tom and Ben Saviello, Buzz Cyr and Mark Cyr.

Fourth Place — team 3A: Ethel Bardsley, Arlene Amos, Faye Chadbourne and Georgie Woodford.

Fifth Place — team 5B: Gordon Davenport Jr., Gary LaGrange, Nancy Teele and Michelle Pinkham.

Jim Curran won the putting contest and Mike Collins the chipping contest. Ben Saviello won the men’s long drive and Ethel Bardsley won for the women.

The closest to the pin winners were: Brad Orbeton on #1, Brenda Yeaton #2, Jack Yeaton #3, Mike Rackliff #4, Scott Bishop #5, Brenda Yeaton #6, Allan Brisard #7, there was no one on the green for #8, and Dean Frost #9.

Ethel Bardsley took 1st place in the 1st hole challenge and Dean Frost took 2nd.

Scott Bishop won the 50/50 drawing.

Winona Davenport, an organizer for the event, recently announced that the total proceeds from the event, which benefits the Phillips Public Library, was $2,300.
