CARRABASSETT VALLEY — Donavon Frankenreiter and Deer Tick, two of the nation’s top touring acts, will headline two dates in the Bud Light Concert Series at Sugarloaf this year. The annual concert series brings nationally renowned acts to Sugarloaf’s main stage throughout the winter season, and will feature three dates this winter, including the annual Bud Light Reggae Festival in April.

Deer Tick will kick off this year’s series Feb. 11, and will be joined by the Adam Ezra Group, who will open the show.

Led by guitarist Ian O’Neil and drummer Dennis Ryan, Deer Tick’s five-member band hails from Rhode Island and is recognized throughout the music industry for a truly unique sound that defies categorization, and live performances that routinely have audiences up and out of their seats.

Hailing from Boston, opener Adam Ezra Group, or AEG, is one of Boston’s leading acoustic rock bands. AEG is a dynamic roots/rock band whose unique mix of folk, pop and rock sound perfectly combines Ezra’s passion for smart, well written lyrics and the bands amazing musicianship. Over the past eight years the band has had a consistent tour schedule and sold out shows in the Northeast, while rapidly building their fan base nationwide.

Donavon Frankenreiter, the singer, songwriter and professional surfer whose music has sold millions of copies around the world, will headline the year’s second concert March 17. Opening for Frankenreiter will be Dawn Mitschele, a New Jersey-based singer/songwriter.

Growing up in Southern California, Frankenreiter picked up his first surfboard at the age of 10 and was surfing professionally by the time he was 15. He picked up his first guitar at age 16 and his life has been guided by the two obsessions ever since.

Frankenreiter released his first solo album, Donavon Frankenreiter, in 2004 under Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Records label. He has release three additional records since that time and has gone on to tour the world and perform with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Johnson, Ben Harper and G. Love.

Frankenreiter’s latest release, Glow, was released in 2010 to critical acclaim and commercial success, with a strong backing band and electric instrumentation mixing with Frankenreiter’s classic, acoustic sound.
