“The Irish Descendants” will perform at the Franco American Heritage Center in Lewiston, at Unity College Center for the Performing Arts and at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center in South Carthage Feb. 6, 7 and 8, respectively. New England Celtic Arts will host Newfoundland’s top rated Celtic band “The Irish Descendants” at the Franco American Heritage Center in Lewiston, Monday, Feb. 6, at Unity College Center for the Performing Arts Tuesday, Feb. 7 and at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center in South Carthage Wednesday, Feb. 8. Curtain at the Franco Center and Skye is 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Unity.

Formed in the spring of 1990, The Irish Descendants have been a main- stay in the Newfoundland and Canadian music industry for over two decades. In that time the band has performed over 4,000 shows across North America and beyond. With the founding members all hailing from various outpost fishing communities, the original goal for the group was to take the music that they all learned and performed home in their kitchens, to the festival stages, pubs and concert halls of their beloved Newfoundland.

This tour is the launch of their 14th recording, “Rise Again” in the U.S. and the start of their 2012 Winter Tour.
