Phillips looks at forming business association
PHILLIPS — “Let’s Talk Business,” an informal meeting to discuss forming a business association in Phillips, will be held Wednesday, Feb. 29, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Phillips Town Office. The gathering is being hosted by the Phillips Revitalization Committee.
“For some time now, our committee has been getting inquiries about how to stimulate the business climate in the Phillips area,” says steering committee chair Pam Matthews. The meeting on the 29th will explore who might be interested and how to proceed.
What would the association hope to accomplish? “That’s entirely up to the business owners,” says Matthews. “We have some ideas, but it’s not about us, it’s about the town. But, clearly, strengthening existing businesses and attracting new enterprises, more visitors, and new jobs, to Phillips should be on the agenda.”
Among those who might attend, she says, are storefront businesses, service providers, contractors, realtors, farmers, crafters and artisans, home-based businesses, civic and service organizations, lodging providers, banking and insurance interests, and anyone else interested in helping the economy of Phillips grow.
