STRONG — At the March 29 meeting, the MSAD #58 School Board will be making its recommendation on who will serve on the task force that will make concrete recommendations on how the district can cut expenditures as it moves into the 2013-14 school year.

Supt. Brenda Stevens suggested holding off naming the task force members till after the March 24 World Café where community members, educators and others will develop an educational strategy for the district. There could be some people there that would be exceptional candidates for the task force, she said.

Each of the board members will select at least one candidate in their town to serve on the task force. Some towns will have up to three members. Meetings will be similar to school board meetings, with a chair, vicechair, agendas and minutes. They will meet at a district school and report back to the school board. The goal is for them to arrive at a consensus and give the school board a non-binding informational presentation.

In other action, Stevens said the Meet and Greet Group of the local bargaining union wanted an opportunity to discuss the proposed nepotism policy before the board acted on it.
