Memorial for Gerry



This memorial is set up at the Wyman Township Appalachian Trail crossing for Geraldine “Gerry” Largay. The hiker was last heard from July 22 when she sent a text to her husband stating she was leaving the Poplar Ridge lean-to and headed north. A massive search effort took place over the span of 11 days narrowing the area of interest to 4.2 square miles between and around Lone Mountain and the Spaulding Mountain lean-to. Search efforts were extensively cut back on the evening of Aug. 4 and the Maine Warden Service public safety office states that no new information has been received. Largay, who is 66 years old, is 5’5” tall, weighs 115 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black pullover shirt, tan pants, a blue hat, and a black and green backpack.
