NEW VINEYARD — Voters gathered Saturday, March 10 for the New Vineyard Town Meeting, the first of two to be held this year as the town changes its budget from a calendar year to a fiscal year. Thirty-three of the 34 Warrant Articles passed, including updating the Shore land Zoning Ordinance and amending the Building Permit Ordinance.

Voters raised and appropriated nearly $270,000 for the first six months of 2018. In June, they will reconvene to approve a 12-month budget for July 2018 to June 2019.

Voters were not in favor of raising and appropriating funds for outside organizations such as Safe Voices, American Red Cross, LifeFlight Foundation, and Seniors Plus.

The June Town Meeting is tentatively scheduled for June 2. At that time, elections will be held for a selectman, three planning board members and two planning board alternates.
