Annual Christmas Fair





It’s that time of year again when all the surrounding towns are tryingto raise monies through annual Christmas Fairs. On Saturday, Nov. 25it’s Kingfield’s turn when their annual craft fair will be held at theSAD 58 Kingfield Elementary School starting at 9 a.m.I know at my age I have to keep a written list telling me just what I’msuppose to make for the next event. This week it’s cookies to benefitthe Norton/ Wuori American Legion Auxiliary cookie walk that will beheld at the craft fair. On Monday, Dec. 4 it’s a potluck supper at theAmerican Legion and Auxiliary supper at 6 p.m. and exchange of gifts (notto exceed $5 apiece) and then the next day Dec. 5 it’s a noon potlucksupper at the Baptist Church for the seniors citizens. It sure doesn’tgive you much time to be bored.Bertrand Dyer, Commander of the Norton Wuori American Legion Post #61,urges anyone who would like to, to please tie a yellow ribbon aroundthe Christmas tree at the town monument which will be turned on when thetown Christmas trees are lit on Dec. 1 at 6 p.m.My prayers go out to Robert Rundlett who is recuperating at the SandyRiver Rehabilitation Center in Farmington. Also to Dana Davidson,Durwood Davidson and Lloyd Davidson who are all at the Edgewood Manor NursingHome in Farmington.Congratulations go out to Chris and Jessica Norton Brown on the birthof their daughter Myla Rose Brown born on Nov. 15 at Skowhegan FairwiewHospital weighing in at five pounds and 15 ounces. Grammie Wanda hadwonderful photos of the new bundle.It was good to see Gene and Janet Dyer of Warminster, Pa. who have beenin town for the past three weeks visiting relatives.Also in town visiting relatives for the past few weeks have been Johnand Joann Carey of Coco, Fla. Joann joined us at the American LegionAuxiliary meeting where she received her 50-year pin; we kept her busydecorating coffee cans for our Cookie Walk.Jodi Wyman is home for the Thanksgiving holiday. Jodi is doing graduatestudies at the University of Vermont majoring in chemistry.Deb Clague, with the New Portland Community Library, said Sunday thatthe winner of the Thanksgiving Basket raffle was Lorie Rezendes from theAugusta area. Over $300 was raised from the raffle that will go towardexpenses for the operation of the library.Howard and I set out this week to find the New England Orthotic andDiabetic Shoe Manufacturing Plant in Wilton, now it wasn’t easy to findbut after inquiring several times we finally found the old Bass Shoefactory where Nichols Welding is located and in back is the shoe factorythat makes special shoes for bad feet. Although they are not on themarket yet, the owner had one pair which I am now trying for my broken footwhich seems to be helping.
