Friday’s event included a Two Person Scramble sponsored by American Airlines. Bruce Forsley and Joey Joseph were the overall winners and received round trip tickets from American Airlines. Carl and Rick Wimmer, from American Airlines, were the low gross winners and Ed Shevenell and Gary Smith were the low net winners.

Scores were combined for Saturday’s Best Ball and Sunday’s Scramble. First place and low gross winners of the two-day event were Peter Webber, Jason Gall, Matt Levy and Dick Marshall. Second place low gross was Tiger Bragdon, Dave Brewster, Brooks McDonald and Mark Plummer. The Olmsberg Family won low net. Second place low net went to Bill Alfond, Justine Alfond, Kyle Evans and Joe Lepley. Another highlight of the weekend was two holes-in-one. Local, Jeff Rosenberg, and Bruce Forsley of Shipyard Brewing Company both shot one on hole fifteen, while local Jay Marshall came within three and one half inches of a hole-in-one on the eighth hole on Saturday.

Kate Punderson, one of the tournament coordinators, said that the two holes-in-one were an unprecedented occurrence in the event. “This is extremely rare,” she said.

The weather and wind on Sunday played havoc with the golfers. Player, Pete Webber said he had “never seen the course play so tough”.

Through the generosity of participants, sponsors and donors, $50,000 was raised for the Martha B. Webber Scholarship Fund. Martha’s personal commitment to CVA was a driving force behind the founding and development of the Academy. The scholarship fund has been established in her memory to help deserving student-athletes from Maine aspire to their athletic and academic goals at CVA.

The majority of the money was raised Saturday evening at the banquet during a live and silent auction. Golfers and non-golfers alike enjoyed the excitement of bidding on items such as gift certificates to local restaurants, golf and stay packages, ski equipment and tickets all generously donated by CVA supporters.

Everyone at CVA expressed their appreciation to all those who participated throughout the weekend. Organizers of the event said that the combined efforts of sponsors, auction and prize donors, players, guests and volunteers helped to make the weekend a huge success.
